Memorial Middle School and Longsjo Middle School: Introducing 2019’s Signature Projects!

Site of the future outdoor classroom project at Memorial Middle School

One of the best parts of We Love Our City is being able to invest in the education and future of the children in Fitchburg. We’ve renovated playgrounds and libraries at Crocker and Reingold Elementary schools and this year we are excited to head out into our Middle Schools and bless the children there!

At Memorial, we will be building an outdoor classroom where students will be able to enjoy the fresh air as they learn. Just a small change of scenery can really make a difference in the education of a child. The safety of our kids is a high priority for Crossroads and the city. To ensure they are best protected, we will also be building carports so that children can be protected from harsh weather conditions as they wait for the bus.

Longsjo Middle School, where ramp repairs and artwork will revitalize this area

At Longsjo, we’ll also be addressing safety by repairing a ramp. We will also be painting beautiful murals as the children enter the building to help inspire and motivate the kids! We know that art is a great way to stimulate the mind and creativity and we hope that these murals will provide the kids with a renewed excitement for their learning environment.

We hope that you join us this year in making the vision of a better Fitchburg a reality. Sign up to serve today!

We believe in being a light for people who are in the darkness. People don't just need to be preached at; they need to see the love of Christ in action right where they are. So let's show Fitchburg some love!

What makes our We Love Our City campaign special is the people who give so much of themselves to show love to their neighbors. Anyone can help! Basic projects, like picking up trash or bagging lawn debris, are just as important and necessary as the projects that take trade skills. So no matter what skills you can contribute, we have a project that will let you make Fitchburg a better place to live.

Maybe you know of a neighbor that needs some help with spring clean up or safety issues on their property? We want to help! Even if it's an unkempt lot or public space, make sure to suggest that project while you sign up.

Get involved and join hundreds of others around the city this May 18th!

Announcing WeLOC 2019

Posted March 17, 2019

On May 19th of last year, the movement known as “We Love Our City” was back at it again showing there is great power in unity!

It’s been eight years since our first ever campaign and each year we have gotten bigger and better because of the solid partnerships that have been established. Together, Crossroads Community Church, NewVue C.D.C., and the City of Fitchburg rallied a group of over 300 residents to serve our community.

Last year, our teams made significant improvements to buildings in the heart of Fitchburg. We painted storefront properties, removed and replaced awnings, and secured several unsafe buildings in the North of Main neighborhoods. We have worked hard making repairs in residential areas, specifically supporting the elderly and families with members who are handicapped. We built a ramp for a local resident, painted a home for a new family that provides foster care, and removed several unsafe tree limbs that were a danger to the community. We also revisited our schools as Reingold Elementary School was blessed with a walking trail, a gaga ball pit, and several renovated office spaces.

Our families also visited several local parks throughout our city. These public spaces received some much-needed attention in preparation for the summer. Our people were hard at work as trees were pruned back, graffiti was removed, and trash was cleaned up from a hard winter. Benches and picnic tables were also brought back to life. Join us in celebrating their hard work in making these areas amazing for our visitors.

These efforts went a long way in getting our parks ready for children to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. This year we will be back at it again on May 18th as we express our love for the community. Plans are in the works to make the pride of Fitchburg Parks better than ever. We want to hear from you! Share your thoughts or project ideas right here using the "Suggest a Project"
button on this page.

See you on May 18th!
